Omron BP791IT 10+ Series

Rating: ★★★★☆

The Omron BP791IT 10+ Series Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor is Omron’s model that has every single feature you could possibly need in a monitor.  If you’re someone who likes to have the peace of mind that you’re getting an accurate reading or enjoy recording your data to see how your blood pressure is trending, then this is the blood pressure monitor for you.  The Omron BP791IT 10+ Series has a handful of features to check accuracy and record data.  If you don’t need all the extra features and just want a one shot reading, then you could save $10-$15 dollars and get a cheaper model to fit your needs.

Where To Buy

I recommend buying it from (check current discounted price), they usually have it for around 30% off and you can have it shipped to you for free.  I’ve tried to find this model (and several others) in local stores but they hardly have the depth that Amazon has.  Also, Amazon’s customer service is well worth it.

How Many Readings Does It Hold?

This mac daddy of a blood pressure monitor holds up to 200 readings.  So, if you’re using it with a significant other or another person, that’s 100 each.  Which is plenty.  However, you can upload all your data to Microsoft Health Vault so that you won’t ever have to lose your data.  You also get some fancy charts and graphs to come along with it

Cuff Size And Inflation

Omron included their patented ComFit Cuff, which is a pre-formed cuff designed to fit both regular and large sized arms.  This model also comes with the Cuff Wrap Guide to help ensure you properly secure the cuff around your arm, which is critical to accuracy.  If it’s not on correctly, the monitor will alert you.  Pretty nice!  From there, it’ll auto-inflate to the proper inflation level in order to get an accurate reading

Is It Accurate And Consistent?

Absolutely.  All of Omron’s blood pressure monitors are pretty accurate.  However, it’s nice to know that these systems have checks to ensure that accuracy is consistent.  The BP791IT 10+ series has a Calibration Check System which is a dual sensor that automatically checks each reading.  TruRead is another feature that takes 3 consecutive readings and averages them out.  The Cuff Wrap Guide is another important feature of helping to ensure accuracy as well.  You can feel comfortable about it’s accuracy.

What Makes The Omron BP791IT Different From Other Models

The BP Series has 5 different models in it’s line.  You can click here, scroll down a bit and you’ll find a comparison chart with all the different models.  It basically shows that the BP785 and BP791IT has all the accuracy checks.  Only difference between the two is that the BP791IT is compatible with Microsoft Health Vault

User Reviews

On, nearly 300 users have given it a 4.2/5 star rating.  You can read all of their reviews by clicking here.

The Pros:

Most people have commented that this is the best monitor that they’ve had.  It feels like a quality durable product when people are using it.  They like that it takes a lot of the guess work out of getting an accurate reading and recording measurements.

People also really like that it’s a battery operated blood pressure monitor.  So, you can take it traveling with you if you wish.

The Cons:

The most frequent cons I have found is that people have trouble using it with Microsoft Health Vault.  Some people have no trouble while others do.  They also don’t like that the monitor seems pretty big.  However, a big monitor can be definitely be useful for those who have trouble seeing the numbers on the LCD screen.

It’s a great monitor for a decent price.  This monitor is only $10-$15 above some of the models below it, which isn’t too much of a large gap.  It has tons of features, so if you can see yourself using all of them, you should get it.  If not, check out some of the other models in the Omron BP line here on my site.
